École Racette School Teacher Receives Excellence in Catholic Education Award

Congratulations to Raynelle Robinson on receiving the Excellence in Catholic Education Award! This award recognizes Catholic teachers in Alberta who have done an exemplary job in preparing our youth to grow into outstanding Catholic citizens.

Raynelle Robinson is a busy mom of four who primarily teaches grades 6 to 9 science at École Racette School. She truly is a witness of faith for her students and colleagues. Raynelle’s student-focused teaching begins with relationships. She recognizes the importance of taking the time to get to know her students. When she listens to their stories, she connects with them on a personal level. She learns about their families and friends, their hockey games and dance recitals. As Raynelle gets to know her students, they get to know her, including her values and faith. She models honesty, understanding, and compassion as she treats her students with dignity and respect, and then holds them to the same.

As a coach on the volleyball and badminton courts, Raynelle fosters sportsmanship and fair play among her players. Playing a game is not about winning; it’s about developing skills, working together, encouraging others, and accepting each outcome graciously.

Those who work with Raynelle know she is a team player, always quick to help others and provide support. She is approachable, open-minded, and reflective. Her honesty and integrity are foremost, and they guide her decisions and relationships.

Raynelle brings out the best in those she teaches and works with. She recognizes the God-given gifts in others and uses her own to be a fantastic teacher. École Racette School is blessed to have her as a part of the school family!

Raynelle was presented with the award by Karol Cabaj-Martin, Director of Staff and Student Formation with St. Paul Education, and Dr. Scott Morrison, Executive Director of the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta. The presentation took place at the annual SPICE retreat in Kananaskis at the end of April. SPICE (Sharing Purpose in Catholic Education) is an annual conference hosted by the Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association. The purpose of the retreat is to bring together members of Alberta's Catholic school communities to collaborate and explore current issues in Catholic education.

Congratulations, Raynelle, on receiving this award! Thank you for all that you do to serve your students!
